Band reminders!

Good Morning band families!

I am happy to announce that our first month of band rehearsals went fantastic! The kids are really getting the hang it and I continue to be excited for the future. A couple things I wanted to remind families about:
  • I have sent this same message out to families' emails. If you didn't receive it, please email me so I can add you to the list!
  • I will continue to post updates on this page as well!
  • As we enter into March, please remember to pay (if you haven't already) the monthly $15 if you're renting from me! They are due by March 1.
  • Notify me immediately, if something out of the ordinary happens with your instrument to minimize damage. I can usually fix small problems.
  • Please continue to encourage your student to practice at home with supported air and proper embouchure/posture.
Thank you for supporting these amazing kids in their musical journeys!
Happy Friday!

CANCELLED Tomorrow's Rehearsal (2/13/18)

Hello Wonderful Band Families!

It's so nice to see the snow again! However, it does put a bit of a hold on rehearsal! I decided to cancel tomorrow's 7:05 am rehearsal due to the weather. In the event of sudden future cancellations, if all band families could please send me an email address so I can easily notify everyone. I will also post cancellations on this page as well. Feel free to subscribe! Thank you and be safe!

Happy practicing!

So over this past weekend, I helped out with Instrument Discovery Day at Fort Lewis College in Durango and it was a blast! I gave a small clarinet demonstration and taught mini lessons on both clarinet and alto saxophone. I even saw a few of our own Bayfield kiddos. I hope we can continue to encourage more students to attend with their families in the future!

Hello 5th grade families!

Just a quick reminder for students to have their workbook for our first rehearsal on the 30th. They’re available at Katzin Music in Durango for about $10.50 but you can also use numerous online vendors (amazon, jwpepper, etc).

Thank you!

ATTENTION - No more clarinets available

Hello 5th grade families!

As of this morning, Jan. 23, I have rented all of my clarinets out. If you need suggestions or assistance on where else to rent/buy, I can offer options. Please let me know. I still have flutes/trumpets/cornets/trombones left to rent.

Thank you for your understanding.

MitM 5th Gr. Concert Field Trip

Dear 5th Grade Parent(s) and students,

As the year continues, so do great opportunities! On Monday February 6, 2017, the Fort Lewis College music department and the organization, Music in the Mountains, will be putting on a concert for the 5th grade classes from the surrounding schools. It will include performances from the FLC concert band, choir, jazz band, and chamber orchestra. By attending this concert, students will have more input on an instrument that they can choose to play in 6th grade. Overall, it’s a great experience and I would love each and every student to be able to come. More information and the permission slip is attached on the PDF. Please return permission slips by Thursday February 2, 2017.

Thank you!

2nd Grade Holiday Program

Dear 2nd Grade Parent(s) and students,

On Monday December 19, 2016, your student will perform in their Holiday Program at the Bayfield High School Auditorium! Students have been working hard on their musician skills in class for months! So we’re excited to show everyone what we learned! With the holidays soon approaching, there are a few things to keep in mind over Thanksgiving break so everything runs as smooth as possible!

  • Students should do their best to be at school every day!
  • Try practicing at home with family and loved ones.
  • Every student has an important role to fill for this concert and it will be a part of their grade! However, if your student is unable to attend, please fill out the attached form and return it to me ASAP so I can change parts if necessary and it won’t impact their grade.
  • On Dec. 19, students should be dropped off at 5:30 p.m. at the south entrance of the BHS auditorium and meet their teacher in the band/choir room. Supervision won’t be available for students before 5:30 pm.
  • For grading and safety, parents MUST sign their child in and out with their classroom teachers.
  • Concert starts at 6:00 p.m. and approximately will end at 6:45 p.m.
  • ALL students should wear festive appropriate attire! (Red, green or anything holiday!)
  • If you are unable to make the evening performance, you are welcomed to watch their dress rehearsal at BHS on the morning of the 19th at 10:00 a.m.
  • I’ll be sending home another note with the students when it gets closer to concert time so be on the lookout!
  • If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
  • Please join us in celebrating the winter holidays! The students have worked very hard and I’m sure you will enjoy the performance.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing both you and your student in holiday attire!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
